P6 at Belfast Zoo
19th Jun 2025
Today P6 had a fabulous day at Belfast Zoo. The weather was amazing and we were prepared with suncream, sun hats and plenty of water.
We started off with an educational talk from Amber, where we were able to hold a stick insect, stroke a hedgehog and touch a snake.
Then we had a walk around the farm and reptile house before having an early lunch and some time to be monkeys climbing in the park.
The first animals we saw after lunch were the spider monkeys with two little babies. Then we saw gibbons, who put on a swinging performance and stared at us, as we stared at him.
After that it was off to see the bears, giraffes, zebras, kangaroos, Bongos, warty pigs and meerkats. The baby meerkat was the cutest of animals.
We went on the monkey walk and then after seeing the gorillas, went to the lions. Once we left them it was down to a class favourite, the capybara, followed by sea lions, otters, birds and finally the rainforest house. The children were able to see sloths, bats, birds and experience the humidity and smells of the rainforest.
The shop was the highlight for some to end off our day. It was a difficult decision for some, choosing what to buy and what to leave behind. Have a look at our photos to see how much fun we had, not to mention getting to see Rainforest animals in real life.
