In P1 we have been loving our topic of Fairytales🧚♂️and Superheroes 🦸♂️!
You guessed correct … this week we have been reading and enjoying Goldilocks and the 3 Bears!
In Circle Time we talked about our family and ‘how many people are in it’ … is it ‘small’, ‘medium’ or ‘big’…maybe it is just like the 3 bears family! We created our own ‘bear family picture’ ☺️. We also decided it would be fun to ‘add a friend’ for the 3 bears and we ‘wrote our own special story telling the bears about their new friend’ ☺️.
During play-based learning ☺️ we did many things…..☺️
- literacy - using our ‘word porridge’ to make and create ‘words’ - numeracy - ‘size and measure’ using the ‘porridge sand’ finding and sorting the colours and ‘sizes’ of each bear using the tweezers to fetch the bear! - numeracy and construction - using Lego and duplo, create a bed for each bear to have a snooze! The children worked together to think about the ‘size’ of the bed! - music - loving to groove along to the 3 Bears Rap! - imaginary corner - sitting on our different sized chairs with our ‘bear friends’ and using the correct bowls and spoons! 🥄 - Robo-Mouse - our Robo-Mouse had Goldilocks on his back and we had to ‘work out’ how to get him to the 3bears! We are working on our ‘coding and computing skills’ and we love to watch Robo-Mouse in action! …. So much fun! 🤩
We also had fun during our outdoor numeracy lesson … Miss Reynolds gave us a challenge! Each bear from our story needed a stick and we had to think about the ‘size of the stick and then how could we measure it’ …. We LOVE taking numeracy outdoors… and our story friends followed us!! 🙋♀️🐻🐻🐻!
